By now it is well known that I am all about the romance. Reading, writing, whatevering. But one consistent exception for me is the world of Coralie Moss. Ms. Moss creates rich and enthralling worlds that suck you in with her exceptional and luscious detail.
Once Blessed, Thrice Cursed is an offshoot of the Calliope Jones series, however you can absolutely come into this without having read and not miss a beat. One thing that makes my heart go pitter patter is when beloved characters from one book make an appearance in another by chapter 2 in Once Blessed, Thrice Cursed, a familiar friend from the Calliope Jones series had arrived on the scene and I was ALL IN for it.
Throughout the book we get glimpses of and references to old friends from Calliope’s world, but they are woven in so well that you don’t feel as if you’re missing anything if you haven’t read the first series. Small breadcrumbs of their backstory in the older books are dropped, but the much feared info dump is successfully avoided.
Ms. Moss is a master of the red herring. Just as in the Calliope Jones series, there are characters that come along and ping my spidey senses, but the true threat is one I wasn’t fully expecting.
